Quality...It's all in the detail
Here at Akula we pride ourselves on the quality and durability of our collections.
By providing products to fulfill the contract market demands, we have become world leaders in supplying outdoor furniture for the hospitality market.
The Akula process of design, manufacture, testing, delivery and review is managed, assessed and controlled continually to ensure quality and consistency. Our extensive testing process, which includes salt fog exposure, UV radiation and sunlight testing as well as stress testing, ensures our products are designed to perform.
Our salt fog exposure testing, simulate years of exposure while our stress testing replicates more than 50,000 sitting motions at a speed of 15 per minute as well as 100kg/220lbs load testing on the seat base and 25kg/55lbs on the seat back. In addition to this, 25kg/55lbs weights are repeatedly dropped on the seat and back from a height of 1 metre to simulate heavy use, over a prolonged period.
Outdoor furniture is prone to a number of issues that affect its resilience - be it unravelling or snagging of wicker or damage to fabrics and finishes from the elements. The Akula team of designers and manufacturers work hard to ensure this does not happen.
Our choice of finishes is always mindful of these issues and our design team is constantly carrying out research and development to improve design and functionality. An example of this thought process in action can be seen on our Meridian sun loungers, which now include wheels in the frame to reduce the potential for damage through regular use. It’s this thinking and attention to detail that make the difference.
We use only the highest quality raw materials and finishes from well-respected brands such as Sunbrella, Textilene, Rehau, Trespa, Twitchell and Serge Ferrari, our furniture is designed to take on the elements with minimal upkeep. UV and fade resistant with anti-corrode frames and fabrics, Akula furniture meets the needs of the changing seasons effortlessly with little or no maintenance.
